Our Philosophy

 Our Philosophy in Urunga

Belonging, Being & Becoming

At Stepping Stones Preschool & Child Care Centre in Urunga, we have certain values and beliefs which influence how we run our centre. We believe that all children are competent, capable and resourceful learners, and we respect and value them.

All of the children at our centre are individuals and learn at their own pace, with their own unique thought patterns and abilities. We believe that children learn best through a mixture of what interests them and teacher-initiated experiences.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What sets you apart from other child care centres?

We are a small family-run centre with only 42 places a day, meaning that your child will get plenty of attention from our educators. We don’t believe that any child is just another number on the books; we get to know all our children individually and enjoy watching them grow and learn.

  • What are your childcare ratios?

For ages 0-2 we operate on a ratio of 4 children to one member of staff. For ages 2-3 this ratio is 1:5, and for ages 3-6 this ratio is 1:10. We also have additional support workers where needed.

  • Do you provide food?

We do not provide food at our care centre and ask that children bring their own.

  • What will my child learn at your care centre?

We aim to provide your child with the essential skills and education that will help prepare them for ‘big school’ and beyond. Our team give children the guidance to be able to deal with everyday life as a confident individual and shape strong future leaders.

  • I only need care for my child for a few hours a day, do you still charge full price?

Yes, we always charge for the full 10-hour day from 7.30am to 5.30pm.
